Members of Elk Grove Police K-9 Association donated boxes of 255 lbs. of frozen pork to the Elk Grove Food Bank Services. Six Association members and their K-9 partners arrived at EGFBS to make the donation.

The Elk Grove Food Bank Services is fortunate to receive this very generous donation made possible by the Association members. When retired K-9 officers’ needs are met through funding provided by donations from Association members, the excess funds are used at the Sacramento County Fair to purchase meats to be donated to Elk Grove non-profits. This year a pig was raised by a Sheldon 4H project. The animal was processed, packaged and frozen by Kountry Meats. The pork was delivered to the Elk Grove Food Bank Services for distribution to senior citizens through the Senior Brown Bag program and mobile distribution sites in Elk Grove.

“With a growing number of senior clients and their dietary needs requiring more lean meats, we are pleased to have them available,” Executive Director Marie Jachino said. “This donation helps feed the local seniors seeking food assistance. We are thankful for the Elk Grove K-9 Association’s continued generosity.”

The following are the names of the Elk Grove Police Officers and their K-9 partners that visited EGFBS: Officer Jason Miller and K9 Blu, Officer Dan Emerson and K9 Roman, Officer Tisha Smith and K9 Kye, Officer Joey Gregorio and K9 Argo, Officer Hector Villarreal and K9 Alex, Officer Jarrod Perez and K9 Drax.
