The second article, published on November 29 is titled “Not going hungry on Thanksgiving.” This article highlighted EGFBS’s annual turkey distribution which took place on November 23. Current clients who signed up at the EGFBS warehouse location were able to pick up a turkey, a box of trimmings, and bags of dinner rolls (donated by Florin High School’s culinary program) — all loaded into their cars by volunteers. In total, 753 clients signed up to receive food during the turkey distribution. The Cosumnes Oaks High School baseball team also stopped by during the turkey distribution to donate turkeys — the 9th year in a row they have done so. The turkey distribution would not have been possible without City of Elk Grove Council Member Steve Detrick, who has hosted the event for the last 10 years, our volunteers, and the community who gave so generously.
