Elk Grove Food Bank Services was highlighted recently on News 93.1 KFBK’s radio show, “The Afternoon News with Kitty O’Neil.” Marie Jachino, Executive Director of the Elk Grove Food Bank, spoke with Kitty about the $4 million from the California state budget that was allocated to Elk Grove Food Bank’s fund for a new facility. This funding would not have been possible without Assemblyman Jim Cooper, who spearheaded the funding, and the City of Elk Grove’s support.
During the interview, Marie gave a brief history of the Food Bank, as well as who and how many we serve at the Food Bank’s current facility and its mobile programs. Marie also spoke about the task of finding a new location and what drives the Food Bank, its staff and volunteers, and herself to keep going.
